What I learned at #SM4NP

This Monday I was able to attend the Social Media for Nonprofits (#SM4NP) conference in Washington, D.C. (Hats off to our friends at the Foundation Center for sharing their tickets!)

I took away from the experience some startling statistics:

4.8 billion people on the planet have a mobile device. Only 4.2 billion own a toothbrush.

4.8 billion people on the planet have a mobile device. Only 4.2 billion own a toothbrush.

Also, since pictures get way better engagement on Facebook than text or links, use images with text and links in their captions.

Which would you rather look at?

I also got a neat tip from a fellow attendee (alas, I didn't get her name, so if you recognize yourself, please comment and I'll edit this to attribute you!):

An easy way to create a Facebook-friendly image without using Photoshop is to design it in PowerPoint, then save the slide as a jpg. (I love this tip!)
