Last Wednesday, I got to ride a train to New York City for a fantastic event hosted by our friends at the Foundation Center.
Called "Social Media for Social Good," the afternoon seminar featured top-notch speakers and plenty of great conversations, both online and off.
The event kicked off with our own fearless leader, Casey Golden, discussing how nonprofits can achieve real results with social media through cultivating authentic online relationships with their supporters. You can get a flavor of what he talked about through the interview video below:
UPDATE: Here's Casey's presentation from the event:
Then an incredible panel took the stage, featuring nonprofit social media rockstars Amy Sample Ward (NTEN), Renee Alexander (UNICEF USA), Julia C. Smith (Idealist) and Farra Trompeter (Big Duck). Together, they discussed the finer points of doing social media work for a nonprofit, from the everyday details of how much or how little to post to what sort of content works best to the best methods for retweeting. Lots of great wisdom was shared.

This event will be hard to top, but we've got lots of other great ones coming up soon. Stay tuned!
